INFORMATION ON BENEFITS TO AND OBLIGATIONS OF A NETWORK AND ON ORGANIZING A NETWORK

Benefits to a Network

An IAB network may benefit from:
  • a space / column in the IAB Newsletter to announce the network's activities;
  • the possibility of holding a special session / event during the World Congress of Bioethics, with the agreement of the organizers;
  • professional assistance from the Board on the organization of events;
  • professional assistance in the development of its mailing list and website;
  • access to IAB membership mailing list for advertising of network events;
  • international connections and prominence from being attached to the IAB;
  • direct communication through a network coordinators session during the IAB Board meetings, and input to the IAB agenda;
  • links from IAB website to the network websites.
Obligations of a Network

An IAB network is obliged to:
  • report once a year to the IAB Board of Directors or to the IAB Network Coordinator;
  • declare through its activities its affiliation with the IAB;
  • help increase IAB membership.
Organizing a Network

The IAB welcomes the formation of new Networks. Required in the establishment of an IAB network is a written proposal stating
  1. the network's aims and objectives which must be consistent with the IAB's interest in promoting open dialogue on matters relating to bioethics, and
  2. how the Network is expected to function.
The proposal must be signed by IAB' members (as coordinators from different countries) and sent to the IAB Board of Directors (through the IAB President or the IAB Network Coordinator) for discussion and approval.
